Newsletter Archives Blue Moon News-May 2006 "e ho 'ala kou kino a ho 'olu i ka pa mai a ka wahi" Merry Meet to all my Wonderful Readers, Aaaahhhhh…The goddess of spring is finally opening her eyes here on the east coast. Today, with the warm salty air feeling and smelling so yummy, it is time to say good-bye to winter. I hope you all had a blessed Ostara & Beltane. Here at Blue Moon, We are finally finished with our revised and updated website, a feat that could have never been accomplished without Kim Baron of Fallen Muse Webworks. Kim and I also added a current moon info box on the home page for all visitors to our website. Please let me know what you think of the new look. During the upcoming month, the 13th will usher in the Full Moon in Scorpio- time for intense passion and desire, and since it is spring emotions will be heightened. On the 27th, the New Moon will be in Gemini- a time to pursue intellectual interests, communication (in both verbal and written form), working on your journal, retrospection and travel. The sacred celebration of Beltane always awakens my mind, after all spring is a time for new growth, rebirth, fertility, new ideas, thoughts of love, spring cleaning etc… I love picturing the goddess with her consort at her side…raising the May Pole in ecstatic dance… lusty love…basking in the sunshine...gathering armloads of colorful blooms and branches richly adorned with vibrant green buds. We also honor Maia, the goddess of May, spring and rebirth, as well as Flora, the goddess of flowers. The lush green of the grasses and blooming flowers are their domain. Maia is also believed to have been the grandmother of magick as her son the god, Hermes, (besides being a renowned trickster & thief) was a master magician and alchemist. So in this season of new beginnings and renewal, I have decided to spring clean my life- let go of some baggage I have been carrying and re-energize myself after the long winter. With that in mind, I have been giving thought to exercise, trying something new. I have been taking yoga but itch for something different, a little livelier. Beginnings, right? Running? No way!! Aerobics? Oh, goddess, I've tried that more times than I can count and hated each and every class! But lo and behold, I went in for yoga class today and found the perfect thing- a flyer for belly dancing!!! So that is what this aging body is going to embark on next- Belly Dancing, a celebration of the female body, all its strength and power. This season, put some "flowers in your hair, flowers everywhere", dab on some oil and get ready to enjoy the bountiful blessings blossoming in your life Gardening is a natural expression of the Craft. I have always felt that something was missing in my life during all the years of having a yard of sand and stone. A container garden was no substitute for the magick of walking through a garden, filled with the beauty and peace of life. It was time for me to create my own enchanted garden or as Crosby Stills, Nash & Young sang "and we got to get ourselves back to the garden". (Woodstock). After pouring over garden books and magazines all winter, I have decided on 3 beds (flower boxes as well on all windows) placed around the small yard with a meditation/sitting area. Wishing to make a home for the butterflies and faeries, I am planting honeysuckle, red valerian, yarrow, daisies, cosmos, rosemary, thyme, purple coneflower, lavender and heliotrope as well as pansies, snapdragons, blue columbine, foxglove, tulips, nasturtiums, Verbenas and morning glories. At Herb Fest, I traded for a lovely cast iron birdbath and found lots of cast iron faeries. Crystals, too, will be part of the garden. And of course, being so close to the sea, shells and driftwood will find a home amongst all the blooms, in an area dedicated to the Orisha, Yemaya. Window boxes are done, planted as they were during the waning moon in April. Soon it will be time for the beds; a time to set my plants, wishes and creams into the nurturing earth. Many books helped me re-connect with the earth spirits & garden devas. As I hope to add a small moon garden next year, I will include the one I am reading now.

From The Daily Om:
"The often misjudged dandelion inevitably loses its regal mane and gains a touchable, adorable poof of seeds. After all that work, it finds itself being picked, only to have itself blown hither thither by wish makers! Unpretentious to the end, however, the dandelion with its globe of white softness reminds us to welcome change and to let the wind carry us where it will. And, of course, that sometimes it's better to help out a flower than to worry about the weeds"
Spiritual Cleansing for Spring
Transforming the subtle energies of a room Mix 1 Tablespoon of salt with 2 drops of Frankincense essential oil. Leave this mixture to dry. Open window or door leading to the outside, which allows circulation of air, and then sprinkle a tiny amount of the mixture around the room, including the corners, gradually moving toward the open window or door. Excerpt from "The Fragrant Heavens" ~ Valerie Ann Worwood NAMASTE
The Meaning of "Namaste" The gesture Namaste represents the belief that there is a Divine spark within each of us that is located in the heart chakra. The gesture is an acknowledgment of the soul in one by the soul in another. "Nama" means bow, "as" means I, and "te" means you. Therefore, Namaste literally means "bow me you" or "I bow to you." To perform Namaste, we place the hands together at the heart charka, close the eyes, and bow the head. It can also be done by placing the hands together in front of the third eye, bowing the head, and then bringing the hands down to the heart. This is an especially deep form of respect. Although in the West the word "Namaste" is usually spoken in conjunction with the gesture, in India, it is understood that the gesture itself signifies Namaste, and therefore, it is unnecessary to say the word while bowing. ~*SPRING SALE*~ Maia's Moon…standing in the garden at dawn…a blend of beautiful fragrant flowers Flowing Waters…soft citrus, vanilla co2 and Vanatu sandalwood blended with the magick of the sea on my own sandy beach Yemaya… sandalwood, vanilla CO2, ylang-ylang and more… the ocean is her womb, her gift to us a sea shell in which her voice (the ocean) could always be heard…to this day we honor the goddess when we hold a shell to our ear & listen for the soft waves of the sea Seeking ways to calm your mind & unwind? I read a plea on another list recently and will close this newsletter by sharing it here. We are the protectors, the healers and the teachers. Let our voices and actions be strong and clear. "I propose at the next full moon and every full moon afterwards to light our candles, fill our prayers bowls, raise our cones of power in whatever your particular path uses to turn back the tide of the negativity this world is being overtaken with. No matter the path we walk, we are all Mother Earth's children and She has sent Her howlers. Let's be what we are and use our power to make positive changes for the better as one! Hope to feel your power on every full moon." Surely the survival of Mother Earth concerns all who love the goddess?
In the end we will conserve only what we love. We will love only what we understand. We will understand only what we are taught.
